Rain in Lahore and Various Parts of Punjab: Punjab Police on High Alert Amid Possible Flood Threat.
IG Punjab directed Police Teams to Actively Participate in Rescue Operations During Expected Rainfall and Flood Situations.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, said that Punjab Police is on high alert due to rainfall and the possibility of flooding in Lahore and various other regions of Punjab. IG Punjab directed police teams to actively take part in rescue operations during potential heavy rains and flood conditions. IG Punjab instructed police personnel to play an active role in ongoing efforts to relocate residents and livestock from areas near rivers, streams, and villages to safer locations. Punjab Police is providing full assistance to relevant departments to ensure the timely evacuation of residents in anticipation of floodwaters.
IG Punjab ordered police to remain vigilant at all times in districts including Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Multan, and other areas. In view of further rainfall forecasts, police officers and personnel must remain highly alert and respond immediately to any emergency situation. RPOs and DPOs have been directed to personally supervise police relief efforts in areas affected by potential flooding. The police force must ensure close coordination with district administration and rescue agencies in all relief activities. Police rescue teams should continue regular patrolling in villages and populated areas situated along riverbanks. Necessary steps must be taken to ensure the provision of security and aid to relief camps and people affected in districts likely to be impacted by floods.
IG Punjab emphasized that the protection of the lives, properties, and belongings of citizens at risk from flooding will be ensured at all costs. Patrolling at vulnerable riverbank areas and riverine checkpoints must continue without interruption. Flood victims should also be provided with shelter, food, protection, medicines, and other essential supplies. Punjab Police control centres are continuously monitoring the flood situation across the relevant districts. Punjab Police stand shoulder to shoulder with other departments in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation activities for flood-affected individuals.
