Religious Scholars should join hands with the Police Department for curbing terrorism, sectarianism and religious extremism to make the Punjab a crime free province.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman while meeting with a seven member delegation of Shia Community at CPO today. Religious Scholars included Alhaj Haider Ali Mirza, Maulana Abdul Khaliq Asadi, Syed Nasir Sherazi, Maulana Waqar Naqvi, Asad Abbas Naqvi, Agha Abbas and Ameer Abbas Mirza.

PPO stressed upon the Ulama that they can play a pivotal role in maintaining religious harmony. He said that with their cooperation and constant liaison with the police department, the nefarious designs of subversive elements could be foiled. All religious scholars extended their full cooperation with the IGP and the whole department.

Earlier, IGP addressed to the participants of the second phase of DPO training course at MPDD. In his address, IGP told the Police Officers that the supporters of the criminals in Police Department will not be accepted. He expressed the hope that these training courses will not only enhance the capacity building but also they could execute their role as a crime fighter more confidently. On this occasion, Addl: IG, Punjab, Malik Khuda Bakhsh Awan was also present.
