Punjab Police intensified operations against gangs involved in heinous crimes including murder, kidnapping for ransom, rape, and dacoity – Punjab Police Spokesperson
Under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for a Safe Punjab, Punjab Police is actively engaged in curbing criminal and anti-state elements across the province, including Lahore. Providing details, the Punjab Police Spokesperson said that operations against gangs involved in heinous crimes such as murder, kidnapping for ransom, rape, and dacoity are continuing without interruption. During the current year, Punjab Police arrested 9,688 dangerous criminals belonging to 3,878 gangs and recovered stolen property worth more than 2.35 billion rupees from their possession. The recovered stolen property includes vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, gold, livestock, and cash. From the possession of the criminals, 1,261 Kalashnikovs, 2,191 rifles, 26,338 pistols, 2,331 guns, 353 revolvers, and more than 192,000 bullets were also seized. In the provincial capital Lahore alone, 4,353 criminals belonging to 1,911 gangs were arrested. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, directed officers to continue operations against criminal elements. He said that under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, operations against dangerous criminals should be continued in order to make Punjab a crime-free province.
