Punjab Police on High Alert Due to Expected Cloudburst in Upper Punjab and Risk of Floods and Landslides in Other Districts
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has issued directives for Punjab Police to remain on high alert in view of the expected cloudburst in Upper Punjab and the risk of floods and landslides in other districts. Punjab Police spokesperson said that IGP Punjab has directed police to remain on high alert in the concerned districts including Murree, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, and Chakwal. Police teams have been instructed to actively participate in rescue operations in possible rains and flooding.
IG Punjab said that RPOs and DPOs should personally monitor police relief activities in areas potentially affected by flooding. Police force must ensure close coordination with district administrations and rescue agencies regarding relief efforts. Police relief teams must conduct regular patrolling in villages and populated areas situated along riverbanks. Ensure the establishment of relief camps, assistance to affected citizens, and security measures in flood-prone districts. The lives, properties, and belongings of citizens at risk due to possible flooding must be protected at all costs. Patrolling should continue in vulnerable areas and at river check posts due to flood threats. Flood victims should also be provided with protection, food, medicines, and other essential items of daily use. Dr. Usman Anwar said that Punjab Police control centers are continuously monitoring the concerned districts in view of the possible flood situation.
