Over 62,000 Cases Registered Against Electricity Thieves Across the Province So Far This Year: Punjab Police Spokesperson.
On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the crackdown by Punjab Police against electricity thieves is ongoing, during which more than 62,000 cases have been registered against electricity thieves across the province, including Lahore, so far this year.
Punjab Police spokesperson sharing details, said that a total of 45,249 accused involved in electricity theft have been arrested from across the province including Lahore. Challans of over 42,000 cases of electricity theft have been completed. A total of 3,276 accused who caused damage to the national exchequer have been convicted and fined. In the provincial capital Lahore, more than 21,000 cases of electricity theft have been registered, and 20,840 electricity thieves have been arrested. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered the continuation of the crackdown against electricity thieves. He directed that priority actions should be taken against those who caused loss to the national exchequer.
