Punjab Police is engaged in public service delivery and ensuring implementation of traffic laws. In continuation of these efforts, during the current year, more than 5.416 million driving licenses have been issued. Punjab Police spokesperson said that over 8.114 million challans were issued for violations of traffic laws, with fines exceeding 5.14 billion rupees imposed. For smoke-emitting vehicles, 252,000 challans were issued, 22,360 vehicles were impounded in police stations, while fitness certificates of 234 vehicles were confiscated. Inspector General of Punjab Police directed that actions against violators of traffic laws should continue. Crackdowns should be intensified against those involved in overloading, overspeeding, underage driving, and one-way violations. Dr. Usman Anwar said that citizens are also being trained at Punjab Police’s 127 driving training schools. He further directed that effective measures should be taken to recover fines from defaulters of traffic challans.
