On the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), Punjab Police remained on high alert for mourning processions, majalis, and the last day of the Urs of Sufi Saint Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri (ra). Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar said that the sacred programs of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) were held peacefully and securely. He urged people belonging to all schools of thought to promote religious harmony, inter-sect unity, and tolerance. Comprehensive security arrangements were provided for majalis, mourning processions, and Urs celebration ceremonies. On the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), 644 majalis were held and 392 mourning processions were taken out. More than 37,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for the security of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and Urs ceremonies. Special Police, Traffic Police, and volunteers also assisted in security arrangements. 926 walk-through gates and 6,753 metal detectors were also used for checking. Maximum benefit was taken from Safe City cameras, walk-through gates, and metal detectors for security arrangements.
In Lahore, 44 majalis and 14 processions were secured by deploying more than 12,000 officers and personnel. IG Punjab directed RPOs and DPOs to personally supervise the security arrangements of sensitive majalis and processions. On the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri (ra), comprehensive measures were taken for the security of devotees arriving from all over the country. Special control rooms ensured continuous monitoring of Chehlum processions, majalis, and Urs ceremonies. Snipers were deployed on the routes of central mourning processions and at sensitive imambargahs, while lady personnel were assigned duties for the search and security of female mourners.
