Punjab Police Finalized Security Arrangements for Mourning Processions, Majalis, and Urs Ceremonies.
Over 37,000 Police Officers and Personnel to Perform Security Duties Across the Province Including Lahore: IG Punjab

On the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the annual Urs of Sufi Saint Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri (RA), Punjab Police have finalized security arrangements for mourning processions, Majalis, and Urs ceremonies. According to details, on the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), 644 Majalis will be held and 392 mourning processions will be taken out. Across the province, including Lahore, more than 37,000 police officers and personnel will perform security duties. In Lahore alone, over 12,000 officers and personnel will be deployed for the security of 44 Majalis and 14 processions. A total of 926 walk-through gates and 6,753 metal detectors will also be used for checking purposes.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that comprehensive security arrangements will be ensured for Majalis, mourning processions, and Urs Data Sahib events. The Chehlum processions of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) will be monitored with the help of Safe Cities Authority cameras. He further said that Special Police, Traffic Police, and volunteers will also assist in the security arrangements.
IG Punjab instructed the CCPO Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs to personally supervise the security arrangements of Majalis and mourning processions, while ensuring comprehensive measures for the security of devotees arriving from all over the country for the Urs of Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri (RA). He further said that special control rooms will ensure continuous monitoring of Chehlum processions and Majalis, as well as Urs events. IG Punjab directed that snipers be deployed on the rooftops of buildings along the routes of mourning processions. Lady personnel will be deployed for search and security of female mourners. IG Punjab also instructed to ensure effective coordination with peace committees, community leaders, civil society, and all other stakeholders.
