Drug-Free Punjab: Punjab Police’s anti-narcotics operations continue across the province

 

On the instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, anti-narcotics operations by Punjab Police are continuing in line with the vision of a Drug-Free Punjab. Sharing details, the Punjab Police spokesperson said that during the current year, 63,612 raids were conducted across the province on drug dealers’ hideouts. More than 35,000 accused involved in the drug trade were arrested and cases were registered against them. From the possession of the accused, 20,419 kilograms of charas, 1,765 kilograms of heroin, and 1,071 kilograms of ice were recovered, along with 2,333 kilograms of opium and 489,966 liters of liquor. In the provincial capital Lahore alone, 7,204 drug dealers were arrested, and from their possession, 3,506 kilograms of charas, 308 kilograms of heroin, 580 kilograms of ice, 256 kilograms of opium, and 23,137 liters of liquor were recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered further acceleration of special operations against drug dealers and smugglers. Directing the officers, the IG Punjab said that all those involved in the supply chain must be brought to justice and given strict punishments. He instructed that actions be intensified against individuals involved in drug selling around educational institutions and hostels.
