42 officers, personnel from DG Khan awarded for their bravery
DERA GHAZI Khan - In a prestigious ceremony held at the Central Police Office, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar paid rich tribute to the courage and dedication of Punjab Police officers who displayed exceptional performance in counter-terrorism operations, particularly against Khariji terrorists. The event was marked by the distribution of commendation certificates and cash prizes to officers and personnel, with special recognition for the brave team from Dera Ghazi Khan, who played a key role in neutralising extremist threats in the region. A total of 42 officers and personnel from DG Khan were awarded for their bravery, including those deployed at Jhungi and Lakhani police check posts, Vahova police station, and the elite Special Operations Unit (SOU). Their relentless efforts led to the successful elimination of several Khariji terrorists, safeguarding the lives of countless civilians.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar lauded the commitment of Punjab Police, especially those stationed in border districts like DG Khan, stating, “These officers are the iron wall between terrorists and the innocent citizens of Pakistan. Their heroism deserves not just awards, but national recognition.” He further emphasised that after the successful “Operation Bunyān Al-Marsus”, the challenges for law enforcement have increased, but the Punjab Police continue to rise to the occasion with unmatched courage and professionalism. Dr Anwar also reiterated the importance of joint efforts, saying, “With the support of the Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies, and the cooperation of our people, we will continue to defeat the evil intentions of the enemy.” The ceremony served not only as a token of appreciation but also as a morale booster for all security personnel serving in high-risk areas. The people of Dera Ghazi Khan take immense pride in their police force, whose sacrifices and services are earning respect across the province and the nation.
