Eradication of Metallic Kite Strings and Kite Flying: Punjab Police in Action across the Province

 

On the directions of Inspector General Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is actively cracking down on the use of metallic string and illegal kite flying. In continuation of this campaign, operations against violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act are underway throughout the province, including Lahore. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, 4,495 individuals have been arrested this year for violating the act, and 4,521 cases have been registered across Punjab. Police have recovered 481,460 kites and 18,453 spools of string. Challans for 3,985 cases have been submitted to the courts.

 

In Lahore alone, 1,272 accused have been arrested, 1,241 cases registered, while 28,341 kites and 1,430 spools of string have been seized. IG Punjab has directed that strict implementation of the amended Anti-Kite Flying Act be ensured. He instructed RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs to accelerate the crackdown against kite flyers, sellers, and manufacturers. He reiterated that this life-threatening activity will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and a zero-tolerance policy must be applied against those involved in this dangerous practice. He further emphasized that individuals involved in the online sale of metallic strings and kites must also be brought to justice. Dr. Usman Anwar urged parents to keep their children away from this deadly game and appealed to citizens to act responsibly by reporting any kite flying activity by calling 15.
