Over 57,000 Cases Registered and 41,120 Suspects Arrested across the Province This Year. Punjab Police Spokesperson
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police has intensified its crackdown against electricity theft across the province, including Lahore. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 57,000 cases have been registered so far this year against electricity thieves, resulting in the arrest of 41,120 individuals. Over 39,000 challans in electricity theft cases have been completed and submitted to the courts. Additionally, 2,100 offenders involved in damaging the national exchequer have been convicted and fined. In Lahore alone, more than 14,800 cases of electricity theft have been registered, leading to the arrest of 18,692 individuals. Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered the continuation of the crackdown and directed that priority actions be taken against those causing losses to the national treasury.
