LAHORE - Punjab Police has significantly intensified its ongoing search, sweep, and combing operations across the province, including Lahore, as part of its strategy to curb criminal and anti-state activities. According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, a total of 515 combing operations were conducted in the last 24 hours. During these operations, over 20,340 individuals were checked, and 70 suspicious persons were taken into custody for further investigation. In addition, 28 separate search and sweep operations were carried out, during which 3,144 individuals were questioned and two suspects were apprehended. The crackdown also led to the arrest of 447 proclaimed offenders wanted in serious crimes, 158 court absconders, and 111 habitual criminals. A substantial cache of illegal weapons and ammunition was recovered from the possession of various suspects. As part of targeted action against hardened criminals, five offenders were neutralized, while five others were arrested in injured condition during encounters with police. Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar said that these operations will continue across the province to bring criminal and anti-state elements to justice. He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring law and order and maintaining public safety.
