LAHORE - The Punjab Police are actively advancing its mission to improve public service delivery and enforce traffic laws across the province. As part of this effort, over 4.544 million driving licences have been issued in 2025 alone, reflecting the department’s commitment to road safety and legal compliance. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 6.751 million traffic violation tickets have been issued this year, resulting in fines exceeding Rs. 4 billion. Additionally, action has been taken against 245,000 smoke-emitting vehicles, with 22,000 of them impounded at police stations. Furthermore, the fitness certificates of 209 vehicles were confiscated due to non-compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the crackdown on traffic violators will continue with full force. He also highlighted the police department’s efforts to educate and empower citizens, noting that 127 driving training schools are operating across the province to provide professional driving education and ensure long-term behavioral change on the roads.Dr. Usman Anwar further instructed senior officers to take effective steps to ensure the recovery of unpaid fines from traffic challan defaulters, ensuring accountability and deterrence.
