Lahore - Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar chaired a budget meeting held at the Central Police Office. IG Punjab said that during the fiscal year 2024/25, Punjab Police performed better than all other departments in the utilization of the development budget. Punjab Police spent 99.5 percent of the development budget of 12 billion rupees allocated for ongoing schemes in the current fiscal year. IGP Punjab praised all regional and district police officers for the efficient utilization of the development scheme budgets. He said that many new projects were initiated in Punjab Police during the current fiscal year. The development budget allocated to Punjab Police was divided into three parts concerning various schemes, and the funds for ongoing development schemes were divided into two parts according to utilization. Supplementary grants were obtained for the timely completion of the Punjab Government’s best development schemes. IG Punjab said that Punjab Police would complete most of the development schemes in the next fiscal year 2025-26.
Punjab Government had allocated a budget of Rs 187 billion rupees to the police last fiscal year. Due to Safe Cities Authority, Smart Police Stations, Special Initiative Police Stations, and other development schemes, total expenses exceeded 233 billion rupees. Because of the work of the CCD, Right Management Police, and CTD, the budget increased beyond 233 billion rupees. Punjab Police has been allocated 199 billion rupees for the next fiscal year 2025-26, which is 12 billion rupees more than the previous budget. IG Punjab further said that the Safe Cities project is being extended to 10 parts at the Tehsil level, and the scope of Safe Cities is being expanded to 7,000 Union Councils through local financial resources. Under the Safe Punjab Vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, an interconnected and integrated network of CCTV cameras will be completed.
