Arrival of Muharram-ul-Haram: Delegation of Religious Scholars and Peace Committees Visited Central Police Office
Community Leaders Met Additional IG Operations Punjab Shahzada Sultan.
A delegation of religious scholars from various sects and faiths, community leaders, and members of peace committees met with Additional IG Operations Punjab Shahzada Sultan at the Central Police Office regarding Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting included religious leaders from different districts, license holders of Majalis and Azadari processions, and custodians.
The delegation included Chairman of the National Peace Committee Punjab Kamran Parvaiz Chaudhry, Chairman of Pakistan National Peace Committee Professor Mahmood Ghaznavi, Pastor of Naulakha Church Dr. Majeed Able, Qasim Ali Qasmi, Hafiz Kazim Raza Naqvi, Maulana Safdar Hussain Jafri, Syed Mehdi Ali, Maulana Hamdani, Allama Rai Zafar Ali Khan, Maulana Asim Makhdoom, Mufti Syed Ashiq Hussain, Maulana Badar Munir, Chaudhry Sagheer Abbas Virk, Sameer Chauhan, and others. During the meeting, a joint resolve was made to thwart all attempts by anti-state elements to disrupt peace, incite sectarianism, and spread religious hatred during Muharram-ul-Haram.
Additional IG Operations Punjab Shahzada Sultan said that in view of the current strategic situation in the region, holding a peaceful and secure Muharram-ul-Haram is a shared mission for all. All religions and sects residing in Pakistan stand united for the peace and security of the country. No sentiments of any sect should be hurt in the interest of peace. Strict action will be taken against any attempts to incite unrest or foment discord on social media.
Religious leaders and organizers of Azadari processions and Majalis expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements made by Punjab Police for the first ten days of Muharram. Additional IG Operations Punjab said that during the first ten days of Muharram, hundreds of thousands of police officers and personnel across the province, including Lahore, will perform their duties with devotion. Security arrangements will be further improved in light of suggestions from Shia community leaders. Punjab Police spokesperson added that the delegation offered special prayers for the progress and security of the country and the nation, and for the spiritual reward (Isal-e-Sawab) of police martyrs.
