83 drug dealers arrested and cases registered from across Punjab including Lahore, Punjab Police Spokesperson

On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, 161 raids were conducted on drug dealers' hideouts across the province including Lahore within 24 hours as part of the Drug-Free Punjab vision. A total of 83 drug dealers were arrested and cases were registered. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, 26 kilograms of chras and 997 liters of liquor were recovered from the possession of the arrested drug dealers. The spokesperson further shared that during the current year, 39,457 raids were carried out on drug dealers’ hideouts, leading to the arrest of 21,740 drug dealers. From their possession, 11,344 kilograms of charas, 294 kilograms of opium, 630 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine), and over 288,000 liters of liquor were recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has instructed that special operations against drug dealers and smugglers should continue. IG directed officers to ensure that all individuals involved in the drug supply chain are brought to justice and awarded strict punishments. He also instructed for intensified operations against those involved in drug peddling around educational institutions and hostels.
