Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's directives: Punjab Police Continue Crackdown on Electricity Theft.

Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police have intensified its ongoing crackdown against electricity theft across the province. According to details, a total of 48,942 cases have been registered so far this year throughout Punjab, including Lahore, against accused involved in electricity theft. Police have arrested 32,985 suspects linked to these cases. Furthermore, challans have been completed in 30,201 cases related to electricity theft. Over 2,000 individuals found guilty of causing losses to the national exchequer, have been convicted and fined. In Lahore alone, more than 12,000 cases of electricity theft have been registered, and 15,298 individuals involved in power theft have been apprehended. Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has issued orders to continue the crackdown without letup. He emphasized that priority action must be taken against those causing damage to the national treasury.
