LAHORE, In a province-wide crackdown during the Eid ul-Azha holidays, Punjab Police arrested 110 suspected drug dealers and recovered significant quantities of narcotics and illicit liquor during 223 raids. According to a statement from the department's spokesperson, the police also seized 23 kilograms of cannabis (charas) and 4 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) during these operations. Additionally, authorities recovered 2,950 liters of liquor and 1 kilogram of heroin, the spokesperson added. Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has directed that special operations against drug dealers and smugglers be continued at full pace. He emphasised that all individuals involved in the drug supply chain must be brought to justice and handed strict punishments. The IGP also ordered an increase in targeted operations around educational institutions and hostels, aiming to eliminate drug trafficking in areas frequented by students and young people.
