Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar extended Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the citizens of Lahore and the entire province, as well as to police officers and personnel. IG Punjab said that police remained on high alert on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and comprehensive security was provided to worshippers and citizens. Peace was ensured and citizens were enabled to perform Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi in a peaceful atmosphere.
In the provincial capital, over 9,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for the security of mosques, Imambargahs, and Eid gatherings. Additional force was stationed at sensitive mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs, open spaces, and parks. According to Punjab Police Spokesperson, more than 43,000 officers and personnel were deployed for the security of over 28,000 mosques and Imambargahs, and 890 open Eid gatherings across Lahore and the province.
For security of over 5,000 Eid prayer gatherings in Lahore, more than 6,000 officers and personnel were deployed. Across the province, special police and Quick Response Force (QRF) teams also performed security duties. Punjab Police Spokesperson said that 12,000 metal detectors, 225 walk-through gates, and more than 10,000 CCTV cameras were used for Eid prayer security arrangements.
In line with the directions of IG Punjab, all supervisory officers personally checked the Eid-ul-Adha security and traffic arrangements. Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite Force teams conducted continuous patrolling around places of worship and graveyards. Strict implementation of the Home Department’s SOPs regarding the collection of sacrificial hides was ensured.
IG Punjab said that citizens must not give sacrificial hides to any entity other than organizations and institutions approved by the Punjab Charity Commission. Giving hides to banned organizations or providing any kind of support is legally a crime.
IG Punjab directed officers to take strict action against unapproved organizations and those collecting hides through coercion or intimidation. Citizens are urged to report lawbreakers forcibly collecting hides to 15 or their local police. Banned organizations and individuals listed in the Fourth Schedule involved in illegal activities were also strictly monitored.
CTO Lahore and district traffic officers ensured smooth traffic flow throughout the province. On IG Punjab’s orders, additional personnel were deployed for the security of parks and recreational spots during Eid holidays.
