Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's instruction: Punjab Police intensified the crackdown against electricity thieves.

During this year 45,928 cases registered across the province against electricity thieves, 30,851 accused arrested, Punjab Police Spokesperson.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police's crackdown against electricity thieves is ongoing across the province including Lahore. Police teams are taking priority action against individuals involved in electricity theft. Punjab Police Spokesperson shared that this year, 45,928 cases have been registered against electricity thieves across the province including Lahore, and 30,851 accused have been arrested. Additionally, challans of 28,126 cases of electricity theft have been completed and submitted. Punjab Police Spokesperson further shared that 1,977 accused involved in causing loss to the national treasury have been awarded punishments and fines. Regarding the operations conducted in the provincial capital Lahore, the Punjab Police Spokesperson informed that 11,523 cases of electricity theft have been registered and 14,046 electricity thieves have been arrested. Since the beginning of the campaign against electricity thieves, 213,465 cases have been registered and more than 191,000 accused have been arrested. Inspector General Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed that indiscriminate action in electricity theft cases should continue and that priority action should be taken against the accused who are causing damage to the national treasury.
