Security increased at Christian worship places across Punjab

LAHORE  -  On the instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police remained on high alert and ensured comprehensive security during Christian worship and prayer programs held in churches across the province, including in Lahore. According to spokesperson, the IGP had issued special directives to all Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to enhance security arrangements at churches and other sensitive locations. The IGP emphasized that senior supervisory officers must personally inspect the security measures at churches to ensure foolproof safety. Dr. Usman Anwar directed the deployment of additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive churches. He also ordered Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite Force teams to intensify patrolling in the vicinity of churches and Christian neighborhoods to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents.

Officers and personnel deployed on duty were instructed to remain highly vigilant and maintain strict surveillance on suspicious elements. Search and sweep operations were conducted around churches, Christian residential areas, and other vulnerable spots to ensure a secure environment. The IGP further stressed the importance of promoting interfaith harmony and called upon religious scholars, Christian community leaders, and members of peace committees to play an active role in fostering unity and mutual respect. Punjab Police continues to uphold its commitment to protecting the rights and religious freedoms of all communities through proactive security and community engagement.
