Major success of the Crime Control Department: 44 children who were victims of drugs, abuse, missing, or had run away from home recovered۔

Crime Control Department achieved a major success by recovering 44 children who were victims of drugs, abuse, missing, or had run away from home. A ceremony was held at the Central Police Office to hand over the recovered children to their parents. Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar participated in the ceremony as the chief guest. Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chattha, DIG CCD Umar Farooq Salamat, DIG CCD Waqas ul Hassan, and SP Abdul Hannan, along with other senior officers, were also present at the ceremony.

On this occasion, IG Punjab said that under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, abuse, exploitation, and child labor involving children are our red line. To reform the societal structure, it is necessary to protect children from sexual predators, keep them from falling into the world of crime, and make them useful citizens. Children who are victims of drugs and abuse and their parents are being provided counseling by psychologists.

Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chattha said that the CCD recovered a large number of missing children in the shortest possible time. The recovered children belong to various cities including Ghotki, Karachi, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Lahore. The parents of 13 recovered children are being traced and the children handed over to them. Orphaned children will be handed over to the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau, SOS Village, and rehabilitation centers.

Additional IG CCD further said that 13 children ran away due to excessive work,15 children left their homes because of scolding and beatings by parents or teachers. 16 children became victims of drugs and abuse at the hands of criminals while arrests of the involved gangs are being ensured. Under CCD Law, the e-tagging of suspects involved in child sexual abuse has been initiated. Missing and runaway children were recovered from Data Darbar, railway stations, and bus stands. Punjab Police spokesperson shared that the search for children was carried out through the Hamara Pyara App, Virtual Child Protection Center, NGOs, and social media.
