5,534 operatives of 2,248 gangs arrested during the current year; weapons and other items recovered

 

On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is actively engaged in operations against organized gangs. As part of this ongoing crackdown, 5,534 operatives of 2,248 gangs have been arrested during the current year. From the possession of the accused, 711 Kalashnikovs, 14,590 pistols, 1,272 rifles, 1,422 shotguns, 215 revolvers, and 110,833 bullets have also been recovered. Stolen property worth Rs. 46 million, including vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, and gold, was also recovered. Punjab Police spokesperson said that in the provincial capital Lahore, 164 operatives of 71 gangs were arrested. From their possession, 22 Kalashnikovs, 2,865 pistols, 173 rifles, 112 shotguns, 36 revolvers, and 14,593 bullets were recovered. Stolen property worth more than Rs. 10 million, including vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, and gold, was also recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar instructed the officers to continue operations against criminal elements.
