In the context of the current border situation, search, sweep, combing operations, and mock exercises are ongoing across the province including Lahore. Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar said that search, sweep, and combing operations are being conducted to keep strict watch on terrorists and anti-state elements. The spokesperson of Punjab Police, while sharing the details, said that during the last 24 hours, 380 combing operations were carried out, 14,000 suspected individuals were checked, and 61 suspicious individuals were taken into custody. 32 search and sweep operations were conducted, 3,483 individuals were interrogated, and 04 suspects were arrested. 167 proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes, 155 court absconders, and 53 habitual criminals were also arrested. The spokesperson of Punjab Police further said that a large quantity of illegal weapons and bullets were recovered from the possession of criminals and suspects. During the operations against criminals, 05 culprits were neutralized, 07 were injured, and 06 were arrested. IG Punjab said that mock exercises are also being carried out to deal with any emergency situation. Teams from Punjab Police, Elite Force, CTD, Special Branch, Rescue 1122, Bomb Disposal Squad, and other law enforcement agencies are participating in the mock exercises. The purpose of the mock exercises is to deal with any unforeseen situation, prevent threats, safely rescue citizens, and further improve response time. Dr. Usman Anwar said that in view of the current border situation, mock exercises will continue to ensure security, law and order, and relief activities.
