World Thalassemia Awareness Day: IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Committed for best treatment of Police Employees’ Children Affected by Thalassemia
Blood donations are being ensured for children of police personnel suffering from thalassemia, IG Punjab.
On the occasion of World Thalassemia Awareness Day, Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that Punjab Police is committed for the best treatment of children of police personnel affected by thalassemia. In continuation of these efforts, the provision of blood donations for children suffering from thalassemia is being ensured. Blood donation camps are being organized in collaboration with institutions working against thalassemia in all districts, including Lahore. Under the Hamare Phool project, monthly stipends are also being provided to cover medical expenses for the children of police personnel affected by thalassemia. A total of 161 registered children of police employees across the province are regularly being paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000 each.
Dr. Usman Anwar said that over Rs. 7 million have been provided so far this year for children affected by thalassemia, while more than Rs. 27.3 million were spent on such children last year. Collaborative efforts with various hospitals and welfare organizations are ongoing for the treatment of children affected by thalassemia. Punjab Police will continue to play its full role in supporting children suffering from thalassemia.
