Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar extended Easter greetings to the Christian community and all Christian police officers and personnel of the force. IG Punjab said that Punjab Police fully shares in the happiness of the Christian community. On the occasion of Easter, Punjab Police made comprehensive security arrangements and provided foolproof security to the Christian community. Punjab Police spokesperson said that over 17,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for the security of 2,594 Easter programs across the province, including Lahore. In Lahore alone, more than 4,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for the security of 622 Easter programs. IG Punjab said that additional personnel, snipers, and police commandos were deployed at sensitive churches. Participants were only allowed entry into the churches after complete checking and identification. Police and community volunteers remained highly alert.
Dr. Usman Anwar, while instructing the officers, said to keep a close watch on suspicious individuals, items, and surrounding movements. Supervisory police officers should personally monitor the security arrangements of the churches. RPOs, CPOs, DPOs, and police officers should remain in constant contact with the church administrations. Dolphin, PRU, and Elite Force personnel should ensure effective patrolling around sensitive churches. Dr. Usman Anwar further said that until the conclusion of Easter prayer and religious ceremonies, no personnel shall leave their duty point under any circumstances. Security checking at the entry and exit points of cities has been further tightened.
