Over 2.425 Million Driving Licenses Issued Across the Province Including Lahore This Year, Punjab Police Spokesperson
On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, the Traffic Police is diligently engaged in ensuring compliance with traffic laws on roads and in providing licensing and traffic-related facilities to the public. Continuing these efforts, more than 2.425 million citizens have been issued driving licenses across the province, including Lahore, during the current year. Sharing further details, the spokesperson of Punjab Police said that over 3.352 million challans (traffic violation tickets) were issued for violations of traffic laws, and fines totaling Rs. 2.113 billion were imposed for breaches of traffic regulations. More than 187,000 vehicles emitting smoke were issued challans, while 16,156 such vehicles were impounded at police stations. Additionally, fitness certificates of 124 smoke-emitting vehicles were confiscated. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that actions against those who do not comply with traffic laws will continue. He further directed that effective measures be taken to recover fines from traffic challan defaulters.
