Good Friday and Jumma-tul-Mubarak: IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Orders increased Security Across the Province Including Lahore
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has ordered enhanced security across the province, including Lahore. He directed that security at mosques, Imambargahs, shrines, and other important locations be ensured. On the occasion of Good Friday, IG Punjab instructed increased security for churches and Christian communities. According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, security arrangements for Easter programs have also been finalized. More than 11,000 officers and personnel will be deployed for the security of churches, Christian communities, and other locations across the province, including Lahore. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed DPOs and other senior police officers to visit local mosques on Jumma-tul-Mubarak and instructed police officers to listen to citizens’ issues in mosques after Friday prayers. IG Punjab said that, in accordance with the spirit and teachings of Islam, mosques are being transformed into centers of community engagement. He further added that senior officers should listen to and resolve citizens’ problems at their doorsteps through mosque outreach. Citizens should also be informed about the services and facilities being provided by the police.
