Over 6,000 Officers and Personnel Provide Security During PSL Matches in Rawalpindi
400 Traffic Wardens Deployed to Ensure Smooth Traffic Flow
During PSL Season 10, Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi clashed in Rawalpindi. Under the guidance of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, over 6,000 officers and personnel provided security during the PSL matches in Rawalpindi. To ensure smooth traffic flow, 400 traffic wardens were also deployed. IG Punjab instructed the RPO and CPO Rawalpindi to provide comprehensive security to players, officials, and cricket fans. He emphasized that they must personally review all arrangements, including security and traffic management, and ensure that police personnel at duty points remain highly alert, monitoring any suspicious activities. IG Punjab further said that the police force had implemented an even better strategy for the security of PSL matches than before. Coordination with district administration, security agencies, and all relevant departments for the peaceful conduct of the PSL matches has been ensured.
Dolphin Squad, Police Response Units, and Elite Force teams carried out effective patrolling around the players' residences, routes, and the stadium. Continuous monitoring was carried out through CCTV cameras on the teams' routes, the stadium, their accommodations, and other key locations. IG Punjab added that a traffic advisory had been issued for public awareness and traffic flow, urging cricket fans to follow police instructions for a smooth and enjoyable experience at the matches.
