Punjab Police’s campaign for the evacuation of illegally residing foreign nationals is underway. As part of this campaign, 5,020 individuals illegally residing in the province, including Lahore, have been deported. Punjab Police spokesperson, while providing details, said that over 7,672 illegal residents have been shifted to holding centers during the campaign, while 2,652 individuals are currently present at holding points. Five holding centers have been established in Lahore and 46 across the rest of the province.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, said that like other countries, Pakistan is implementing a deportation policy under international laws. Complete data of nearly 89,000 illegal residents is available, which also includes ACC (Afghan Citizen Card) holders. IG Punjab further said that the federal government and intelligence agencies are actively monitoring the deportation campaign of illegal residents. Foreign nationals residing illegally were informed in advance to leave the country voluntarily. Regardless of nationality, it is necessary for all illegally residing individuals to return to their respective countries. Security is on high alert during the evacuation process of illegal residents from Punjab.Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that human rights are being fully respected throughout the evacuation process. CCPO Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs have been instructed to accelerate the process of deporting illegal foreign residents. Special Branch, CTD, security agencies, and intelligence-based information are being used to identify illegal foreign residents.
