Additional IG Training Punjab, Tariq Rustam Chauhan, while briefing on the upgradation of the Training Directorate, said that revolutionary changes have been ensured in the infrastructure development and courses of Punjab Police’s training institutions over the past two years. He said that special attention has been given to infrastructure development to provide modern professional training to training officers in a comfortable and pleasant environment. All TPIs (Training Police Institutions) have been renovated and upgraded on an emergency basis.
Additional IG Training said that Punjab Police’s training institutions are no less than any international training institute in terms of quality. Fundamental changes have been made in the training structure to enhance the quality of training. Old syllabus has been improved, new courses designed, and training modules have been revamped to be practical and skills-based. Officers are being provided training courses in IT and Cyber Crime Investigation. A comprehensive system of in-service training has been established to enhance officers’ abilities. Over the past two years, a record number of approximately 125,000 officers have been trained in the history of Punjab Police. Tariq Rustam Chohan further added that personality development programs such as communication skills, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence have been introduced. Trained officers benefiting from the training are now performing well in the field and earning the public’s trust with improved conduct, better services and behaviour.
