Central Police Office: IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Chaired important Meeting on CCD Affairs

Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, chaired an important meeting at the Central Police Office, Punjab, Lahore. The meeting was attended by Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chattha, SSP Intelligence CTD Umar Farooq Salamat, SPs Captain (R) Qazi Ali Raza, Abdul Hanan, Aftab Phularwan, and other officers. Additionally, the Additional IG South Punjab, CCPO Lahore, RPOs, CPOs, DPOs, and senior police officers participated via video link. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the police force for ensuring excellent security arrangements during Ramadan and directed that security be further strengthened for Chaand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr at mosques, markets, sensitive locations, and recreational spots. He further noted that, on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the deployment of Ladies Police Squads in markets has yielded positive results. The Crime Control Department (CCD) will soon be operational, with an approved budget of Rs. 5.6 billion and 4,000 new seats. Additionally, 2,000 positions have been approved for Riot Management Police, and the Martyrs' Package has been upgraded.

Dr. Usman Anwar said that with the establishment of CCD, Riot Management Police, and PERA, 4,000 to 5,000 more promotions will take place within Punjab Police. The legislative process has been completed, and transfers/postings for various CCD positions will be finalized soon. He directed RPOs and DPOs to ensure infrastructure, human resources, and transport arrangements for CCD. DPOs were instructed to provide CCD with immediate targets for proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes, shooters, gangs, kidnappers, drug traffickers, and motorcycle and car thieves. Additionally, a centralized database of active criminals should be developed with a proper follow-up mechanism.
