On the directives of Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police has finalized a comprehensive security plan for Chaand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr. Security will remain on high alert across Lahore and the entire province, with additional personnel deployed. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that more than 21,000 officers and personnel, including Ladies Police Squads, will be deployed at markets and key locations across Punjab on Chaand Raat. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, 4,000 officers and personnel will be on security duty in Lahore on Chaand Raat. On Eid-ul-Fitr, over 47,000 officers and personnel will be deployed to ensure security at more than 29,000 Eid congregations across Punjab. In Lahore alone, 9,000 officers and personnel will be assigned security duties on Eid day.
IG Punjab directed law enforcement agencies, including the Special Branch, CTD, and security forces, to maintain strict surveillance on terrorists and disruptive elements. Given the national security situation, personnel at interprovincial border and riverine police checkpoints have been instructed to remain on high alert. Continuous monitoring of mosques, imambargahs, markets, and key locations will be conducted through CCTV cameras. Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite Force teams will conduct effective patrolling around mosques, markets, and key locations. Strict action will be taken against one-wheeling, aerial firing, reckless behavior, and kite flying. Those harassing women and families will face severe consequences. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar further directed RPOs and DPOs to personally supervise Chand Raat and Eid security arrangements. Additional personnel will be deployed on major roads, recreational spots, and public areas to ensure smooth traffic flow.
