Current National Security Situation: Checking tightened at inter-provincial & riverine check posts, entry & exit points of motorways.

757 proclaimed offenders arrested during checks at 139 total police posts across the province this year, Punjab Police spokesperson

Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has issued orders to tighten checking at inter-provincial and riverine check posts, entry and exit routes of motorways in the context of the current national security situation. Punjab Police spokesperson, while giving details, said that this year, 757 proclaimed offenders were arrested during checks at 139 total police posts across the province. 46 Kalashnikovs, 391 pistols, 56 rifles, 15 guns, 04 revolvers and more than 13,000 bullets were recovered from the possession of the criminals. 328 kgs of charas,1005 kgs heroin, 18 kilograms of ice, 50 kilograms of opium and more than 1749 liters of alcohol were also recovered. 608 proclaimed offenders were arrested at 70 internal and external Punjab Police check posts of motorways and 43 Kalashnikovs, 306 pistols, 46 rifles, 05 guns, 02 revolvers and more than 11,000 bullets were recovered. Similarly, 110 proclaimed offenders were arrested during checking at 50 river police posts and 01 Kalashnikov, 36 pistols, 06 guns, 05 rifles, 02 revolvers and hundreds of bullets were recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that border check posts across the province have been further strengthened with additional personnel and modern resources. Monitoring and surveillance on motorways and inter-provincial and river check posts should be intensified to expedite preventive actions. IG Punjab further said that police personnel at check posts should keep a close watch on terrorists and anti-social elements.
