30 Search and Sweep Operations Conducted in the Last 24 Hours, 965 People Interrogated, 07 Suspects Arrested, Spokesperson Punjab Police
On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, in view of the security situation on the Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (A.S.) and the last decade of holy Ramadan, the Intelligence-Based Search, Sweep and Combing Operations of Punjab Police have been intensified, as a result of which 30 Search and Sweep Operations were conducted in the last 24 hours, 965 people were interrogated and 07 suspects were arrested. Punjab Police spokesperson said that 491 combing operations were conducted, more than 17,000 suspects were checked, while 73 suspects were taken into custody. During the search operations and checks, 509 proclaimed offenders, 216 court fugitives and 86 habitual criminals involved in serious crimes were arrested. Illegal weapons and bullets were recovered from the possession of criminals and suspects. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that 02 police personnel were martyred during operations against criminal elements and 04 criminals were injured during various operations against criminals, while 03 were arrested. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that mock exercises of the Punjab Police are also underway to suppress terrorists and criminal elements. Teams of Punjab Police, CTD, Special Branch, Elite Force, Rescue 1122 and law enforcement agencies are participating in the mock exercises.
