Drug Free Punjab, 1710 raids on drug peddlers’ hideouts across the province during a week,
928 drug peddlers arrested, cases registered, Punjab Police spokesperson
On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, 1710 raids were conducted on drug peddlers’ hideouts across the province including Lahore during a week and 928 drug peddlers were arrested and cases were registered. Punjab Police spokesperson said that 548 kilograms of charas, 59 kilograms of heroin, 31 kilograms of ice were recovered from the possession of drug peddlers, while 14 kilograms of opium and more than 8,000 liters of alcohol were also recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered to further intensify special operations against drug dealers and smugglers. IG Punjab directed the officers to ensure the elimination of the drug supply chain and the arrest of the accused involved in online buying and selling. Intelligence-based operations around educational institutions and hostels should be further intensified.
