On the occasion of world women's day, Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that Punjab Police salutes the brave mothers, sisters and daughters of martyrs and ghazis, and is the biggest advocates of gender equality. He said that today's woman is more aware, courageous and empowered than ever. Under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, we reiterate our resolve to fight vigorously against sexual harassment, abuse, violence and exploitation of women. Women are demonstrating excellent skills alongside men in all departments of Punjab Police. Women police officers and personnel play a brilliant role in law and order, crime control and community policing. Women serving in Punjab Police are our pride and valuable asset. IG Punjab said that welfare measures have been taken for women police personnel, including the establishment of Safe Cities Women's Hostel, which includes a day care center, mess, library and game area. Providing equal opportunities and a safe environment to women is essential for sustainable economic and social development. We are ensuring immediate registration of FIRs and arrest of criminals in cases of crimes against women. Last year, 90 percent of the accused were arrested in FIRs of crimes against women. Driving training centers, Tahafuz centers, Tahafuz Manzil Foster Home, Virtual Women's Police Stations, Women's Enclave and Anti-Women Harassment and Violence Cell have been established for better service delivery to women citizens. IG Punjab further said that the facility of Women Safety App, Panic Button and Helpline 15 has been provided for women victims of social injustice. The number of specialized SSIOUs for investigating sexual crimes against women is being increased from 115 to 263. Trained female police officers are performing investigation duties in the SSIOUs established under the Anti-Rape Act. The welfare of women officials on duty in the Punjab Police is the top priority.
