Punjab Police ensured foolproof comprehensive security arrangements on the first Friday of the month of Ramadan
More than 36,500 mosques, 2179 Imambargahs, and 444 minority places of worship across the province were provided excellent security, Punjab Police spokesperson
On the instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police made elaborate security arrangements on the first Friday of the month of Ramadan and provided security to more than 36,500 mosques, 2179 Imambargahs, and 444 minority places of worship across the province, including Lahore. Punjab Police spokesperson said that more than 75,000 police officers and officials and community volunteers were deployed for the security of mosques, Imambargahs, and religious places. More than 5,000 officers, officials, and volunteers performed security duty at mosques, Imambargahs, and markets in Lahore. More than 200 walk-through gates and more than 12,000 metal detectors were used for checking at sensitive mosques and Imambargahs across the province. IG Punjab said that on Friday, the police should keep a close watch on anti-national elements and security should be increased. Ulema, notable scholars, and members of the mosque should preach interfaith harmony, brotherhood, and peace. Search and sweep operations are underway around mosques, Imambargahs, religious and important places. Mosques are the center of community reform and senior officers should solve the problems of citizens in mosques after Friday prayers. IG Punjab further said that RPOs and DPOs should review the security arrangements themselves and be in touch with mosque administrators and members of peace committees.
