Biometric Integration: Development of a database containing digitized fingerprints of criminals, facilitating automated identification of latent and other fingerprints. Centralized Database: The fingerprint database is integrated with all districts and field units of the Punjab Police, allowing for the identification of criminals across different districts. Data Digitization: As of recent updates, approximately 1.9 million criminal records have been digitized, making information more accessible and organized. System Integration: CRMS is linked with other systems like the Tenant Registration System and Hotel Eye. This integration enables the identification of tenants and hotel guests with criminal records throughout Punjab. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has collaborated with the Punjab Police to develop and maintain CRMS. On average, 550 new records are entered into the system daily from across Punjab. Overall, CRMS represents a significant step towards modernizing law enforcement in Punjab by leveraging technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of criminal identification and record management. |
