Fugitive Wasim Aslam, a wanted criminal, was apprehended in Saudi Arabia and brought back to Pakistan, Punjab Police Spokesperson.
Punjab Police, in collaboration with Interpol, successfully apprehended another fugitive wanted for murder and attempted murder. Spokesperson of Punjab Police shared details that Wasim Aslam, a fugitive criminal, was arrested in Saudi Arabia and subsequently transferred to Pakistan. Wasim Aslam was involved in the 2016 murder of a man named Muhammad Saleem, whom he shot and killed. The incident also left another individual, Muhammad Naeem, injured. Wasim Aslam had been on the run for 9 years and was wanted by the City Police Station in Gojra, Toba Tek Singh. Punjab Police issued a Red Notice for the fugitive through Interpol, and in close coordination with the Saudi Arabian police, the fugitive was apprehended.
With this arrest, the total number of dangerous criminals arrested from abroad this year stands at 9. Punjab police spokesperson further mentioned that last year, 104 fugitives wanted for serious crimes were brought back to Pakistan after being apprehended abroad. Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the successful operation and commended the efforts of the RPO Faisalabad, DPO Toba Tek Singh, and their teams. He emphasized that legal proceedings would be expedited to ensure the criminal faces due punishment. Dr. Usman Anwar further said that the crackdown on dangerous fugitives hiding abroad would continue, with the cooperation of FIA and Interpol to ensure the arrest of more dangerous criminals still on the run.
