Punjab Police Dera Ghazi Khan achieved a great success, foiled 02 attacks by Khawarji terrorists at different locations and the attacking terrorists retreated and escaped. Giving details, the Punjab Police spokesperson said that a search operation was conducted in the border area of Marha on information about the presence of Khawarji terrorists. Punjab Police DG Khan, CTD, Rangers exchanged heavy fire with terrorists in Marha, the border area of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Khawarji terrorists attacked police teams with heavy weapons. Police teams led by DPO Dera Ghazi Khan Syed Ali retaliated vigorously. As a result of the timely action of the police, the Khawarji terrorists fled into the mountains. Meanwhile, another group of 15 to 20 Khawarji terrorists suddenly attacked the border post Lakhani of Wahwa police station from all sides. The Khawarji terrorists used rocket launchers, hand grenades and other heavy weapons, while the DG Khan police, after identifying the Khawarji terrorists with the help of thermal image cameras, promptly retaliated by firing machine guns and mortars. The vigorous response of the police forced the Khawarji terrorists to retreat and flee. There are reports of heavy casualties among the terrorists as a result of the effective response. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that the operation against the terrorists was commanded by RPO DG Khan Captain (retd) Sajjad Hassan Khan. The elite force under the command of DPO Dera Ghazi Khan Syed Ali and backup teams of QRF immediately reached the spot. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the attack was foiled as police teams and all check posts on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border were already on high alert. IG Punjab, while praising the soldiers who fought the terrorists, said that Punjab Police had previously foiled 18 attacks by Khawarji terrorists. Khawarji terrorists had unsuccessfully attacked the Jhangi police check post of Wahwa police station on 31 january this year. IG Punjab said that terrorists will not be allowed to enter Punjab under any circumstances. RPO Dera Ghazi Khan Captain (retd) Sajjad Hassan Khan said that the Punjab government has provided the latest weapons to the border posts on the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border. The border posts have been strengthened and bulletproof vehicles and armored vehicles have also been provided. RIO DG Khan further said that the police along with other agencies are conducting search operations in the border areas of Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
