Dr. Usman Anwar emphasised that, in light of the international cricket event, a vigilant eye must be kept on anti-state elements. Every effort should be made to provide players with a peaceful and secure environment. Constant coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board, district administration, and security agencies must be ensured. Punjab Police spokesperson shared that over 12,000 officers and personnel were deployed to secure the England vs. Afghanistan match. Snipers were positioned at key locations, including the players' accommodations, routes, the stadium, and surrounding tall buildings. Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, and Elite teams conducted effective patrolling around crucial routes and locations, while the Safe Cities cameras ensured continuous monitoring of the teams' routes, the stadium, and other significant areas. Additional traffic wardens were deployed to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure proper parking. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar instructed that search, sweep, combing, and intelligence-based operations continue around the players' residences, routes, and the stadium. Security personnel at the stadium’s entry and exit points should engage politely with the public. Dr. Usman Anwar urged fans to cooperate with Punjab Police to ensure a safe and enjoyable international cricket experience.
