Punjab Police Enforcing the Amended Kite Flying Prohibition Bill with Full Strictness

 

Under the directives of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is rigorously enforcing the Amended Kite Flying Prohibition Bill and the Anti-Kite Flying Act across the province. Providing details, the Punjab Police Spokesperson shared that this year, 1,200 accused have been arrested, and 1,142 cases have been registered for violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act across Punjab, including Lahore.

 

Furthermore, the spokesperson revealed that over 75,700 kites, more than 2,600 string wheels, and charge sheets for over 840 cases have been submitted. In Lahore alone, 350 accused were arrested, 351 cases were registered, and more than 17,700 kites and 552 string wheels were recovered. Last year, a total of 12,525 accused were arrested and 11,866 cases were registered across Punjab, including Lahore.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed strict enforcement of the Amended Kite Flying Prohibition Bill and has instructed RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs to accelerate the crackdown against kite flyers, sellers, and manufacturers. He emphasized that this deadly activity will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and authorities must adopt a zero-tolerance policy against individuals involved in this dangerous trade. He also stressed that those engaged in the online sale of metal strings and kites should be brought to justice, parents are urged to keep their children away from this lethal activity, while citizens should act responsibly by reporting any kite flying incidents to the police via the emergency helpline 15.
