Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Drug-Free Punjab Vision, Punjab Police ensuring strict actions against drug dealers.

 

Lahore, 18th January: Punjab Police is taking strict crackdown against drug dealers following the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Drug-Free Punjab Vision. Under the supervision of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, anti-narcotics operations are ongoing across the province. As part of these operations, in the first 17 days of this year, over 4,000 raids were conducted on drug dealers' hideouts across the province, including Lahore. Punjab Police Spokesperson provided details, stating that 2160 accused involved in the drug trade have been arrested, and 2160 cases have been registered. 1360 kilograms of charas, 40 kilograms of ice, and 78 kilograms of heroin were recovered from the possession of the accused. Additionally, 31,653 liters of alcohol and 102 kilograms of opium were recovered, while 04 individuals addicted to drugs were admitted to rehabilitation centers for treatment. In the provincial capital, Lahore, 611 raids were conducted on drug dealers' hideouts during this year. 626 suspects were arrested and 611 cases were registered. The spokesperson further said that the arrested suspects had in their possession 402 kilograms of charas, 09 kilograms of ice, and 04 kilograms of heroin. Additionally, 72 kilograms of opium and over 4,380 liters of alcohol were recovered from the drug dealers' possession. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered an acceleration of special operations against drug dealers and smugglers, stating that all individuals involved in the drug supply chain must be brought to justice and given strict punishments. IG Punjab also directed officers to intensify intelligence-based operations around educational institutions and hostels.
