Dec 28, 2024

LAHORE. Lahore Traffic Police has intensified its drive against vehicles with unpaid e-challans. Following directives issued by DIG Traffic Lahore, Athar Waheed, traffic violations will now include a thorough check for outstanding e-challans. According to DIG Waheed, violators found with pending e-challans will be immediately issued a PSID code to facilitate instant payment. In the initial phase of the crackdown, vehicle documents will be confiscated until the dues are cleared. The authorities have further expedited the issuance of e-challans through the artificial intelligence (AI) system, which now actively monitors 19 different traffic violations. These include infractions like signal breaking, lane violations, driving without a seatbelt, and failure to wear a helmet. Other violations under scrutiny include operating smoky vehicles, overspeeding, one-way violations, and illegal turns. DIG Waheed stated, "Citizens will now have to think twice before violating traffic rules as the AI-based e-challaning system ensures swift action."
