UNODC delegation visited the Central Police Office, held a meeting with IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.

UNODC delegation was briefed about the modern infrastructure and policing reforms, as well as service delivery initiatives implemented in Punjab Police over the past two years, Spokesperson Punjab Police

A delegation from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) visited the Central Police Office and met with the IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. The delegation included Chief of Mission Troels Vester, Advisor Criminal Justice and Rule of Law Arslan Malik, and Program Organizer Fahad Qureshi. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the Anti-Riot Force, Organized Crime Unit, Safe Cities, Welfare and Promotion, and Special Initiative Police Stations projects have been completed. He added that with the funding from the Punjab Government, police infrastructure development has improved, and border check posts and police stations have been made more secure. IG Punjab briefed the delegation about the challenges faced in countering terrorism, maintaining law and order, and crime control. The delegation was informed about the modern infrastructure and policing reforms carried out in Punjab Police over the past two years, along with the service delivery initiatives. Senior police officers briefed the delegation on the performance of the specialized Narcotics Investigation Unit in the fight against drugs. 

The UN delegation expressed interest in providing training to Punjab Police in various fields, including investigations, IT, and cybercrime. The delegation also praised the steps taken by Punjab Police and their sacrifices in combating terrorism and extremism. At the end of the visit, IG Punjab and the Head of the UN Mission exchanged souvenirs. DIG Operations Waqas Nazir, DIG Training, AIG Operations Punjab, AIG Welfare, and other senior officers were also present at the occasion.
