Punjab Police actively collaborating with Other departments to Prevent Smog and Protect the Environment.

 

Under the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is actively collaborating with other departments to prevent smog and protect the environment. Strict actions are being taken against individuals violating smog SOPs without any discrimination.  Punjab Police Spokesperson said that 12 cases were registered, and several violators were arrested across the province in the past 24 hours. Fines amounting to approximately Rs. 8 million were imposed on 508 violators, and warnings were issued to 31 individuals. Violations included three instances of burning crop residues and 408 cases of vehicles emitting excessive smoke. This year, a total of 3,280 individuals have been arrested, and 3,800 cases have been registered as part of the anti-smog crackdown. Additionally, warnings have been issued to 7,599 individuals, and fines exceeding Rs. 101.1 million rupees have been imposed on 41,451 offenders. The reported violations include 2,073 cases of burning crop residues, 35,688 vehicles emitting excessive smoke, 365 industrial violations, 1,411 cases involving brick kilns, and 361 violations at other locations.  Spokesperson further said that in the last 24 hours, challans were issued to 4,993 vehicles emitting excessive smoke, 346 vehicles were impounded, and one fitness certificate was suspended. This year, a total of 895,700 challans have been issued for smoke-emitting vehicles, 173,084 vehicles have been impounded, and 10,113 fitness certificates have been suspended. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed that anti-smog operations continue on roads, in industrial areas, agricultural zones, and other locations. He emphasized the need for zero tolerance against violators of smog SOPs.
