Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Drug-Free Punjab Vision: Anti-Narcotics Operations Intensified Across the Province.

 

Under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for a drug-free Punjab, a rigorous crackdown by Punjab Police is underway. Under the supervision of IG Punjab, anti-narcotics operations have been intensified across the province. Punjab Police Spokesperson said that during this year, over 107,000 raids were conducted on hideouts of drug dealers. A total of 62,268 accused involved in the heinous trade of narcotics were arrested, and 54,811 cases were registered against them. The recovered contraband includes 34,995 kilograms of charas, 6,866 kilograms of heroin, 1,652 kilograms of opium, 447 kilograms of ice (crystal meth), and over 1.096 million liters of liquor. Additionally, 1,269 drug addicts were admitted to rehabilitation centers for treatment. Regarding ongoing operations in the provincial capital, the Punjab Police Spokesperson shared that in Lahore, 9,392 raids were conducted on drug dealers' hideouts this year. As a result, 9,699 accused were arrested, and 9,391 cases were registered. The recoveries in Lahore include 7,322 kilograms of charas, 270 kilograms of heroin, 439 kilograms of opium, 170 kilograms of ice, and approximately 65,000 liters of liquor.  

 

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed further acceleration in special operations against drug dealers and smugglers. He emphasized bringing all individuals involved in the drug supply chain to justice and ensuring they face strict penalties. Additionally, he instructed intensified intelligence-based operations around educational institutions and hostels to curb the spread of narcotics.
