Punjab Police's significant initiative to financially assist it's officers & officials facing legal cases and prosecutions.
IG Punjab distributed cheques worth Rs. 5.6 million to 13 police employees from various districts to cover case-related expenses.
Punjab Police continues its efforts to provide financial support to officers and officials facing legal cases and prosecutions in the line of duty. Special financial assistance for case-related expenses is being provided uninterruptedly through the Legal Endowment Fund. In this regard, IG Punjab distributed cheques worth Rs. 5.6 million among 13 police employees from various districts during a ceremony held at the Central Police Office. IG Punjab said that a Legal Endowment Fund of Rs. 100 million was established last year to support employees facing legal cases arising during duty. To date, over Rs. 18.8 million has been disbursed to affected officers and officials. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar mentioned that the department is fully supporting employees facing legal cases which came in the line of duty and will not leave any officer or official to face such challenges alone. He further said that the department is planning to increase the Endowment Fund to assist more employees trapped in legal distress. "No employee facing court cases will have to sell their home, land, or wife's jewelry anymore," he assured.
According to the details Inspector Muhammad Saqib Abbasi from Rawalpindi was provided a cheque worth Rs. 500,000 as legal aid. Widows of Shaheed ASI Muhammad Arif and Shaheed Head Constable Ghulam Jafar from Jhang were given Rs. 500,000 each. ASI Khando Khan and Sub-Inspector Naveed Yasin from DG Khan received Rs. 500,000 and Rs. 400,000, respectively. Inspector Abdul Latif and SI Khalid Tahir from Lodhran were given Rs. 500,000 each for case expenses, while Sub-Inspector Faraz Khan and ASI Muhammad Irshad from Lodhran also received Rs. 500,000 each. Head Constables Muhammad Ashfaq and Muhammad Arshad were granted Rs. 300,000 and Rs. 200,000, respectively. Constable Zahid Rasool received Rs. 500,000, while Constable Muhammad Abbas was provided Rs. 200,000. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar also appreciated and encouraged the officials enduring legal challenges for the department's sake. The ceremony was attended by senior officers, including DIG Welfare Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin and AIG Welfare Ammara Shirazi.
